Jesus Pantocrator (Blessing Jesus) Icon painted on marble

Christ Pantocrator is in the church of Agia Sophia (Holy Sophia), Greece and was probably painted after restoration of the veneration of icons cult in 843. In 1453, after the conquest of Constantinople by the Muslims, the painting was covered with lime, with other icons and mosaics and the covered stand up untill 1935, when he was called out by removing the muslim panels coverage.

Painted on the marble to the size of 13x16cm.
